    shot up to twice Dave's.

He's extremely hard-working and a smart boss (like Jon Stewart); he's really good at connecting with guests and establishing an upbeat, freewheeling energy; and he's making great use of social media to draw in a new generation.

Until they named Colbert, I was worried nobody could compete with him.

it's incredible.  Although leno was a fairly good interviewer (although sometimes incredibly lacking in preparation), Fallon is better. As far as the rest, leno was a complete hack in comparison. Not even a poor man's Bob Hope, which is who I think leno wanted to emulate.  Just pitiful sometimes. Fallon is a breath of fresh air for NBC.

BTW, Jon Stewart could have competed with Fallon and probably beaten him, since Stewart is probably the best, most well prepared interviewer on television (at least since Olbermann left), but Stewart didn't want the job at CBS.

        ...Johnny Carson!
Every bit the good natured gentleman, quite gracious, also wears a suit very well. And Fallon brings more comedic talent and much more musical talent to the game.

Johnny's and Fallon's audience identify with the questions asked, and how the host resposed to the chat.
Fallon's audience identifies with him additionally, because they've spent their lives singing along with their fave rockstars, in the car and shower.
