the Buddha and the Mahatma. I don't need any mythology to value the examples set.
I have a copy of The Son of the Man, but I have a couple of reads ahead of it.

Experiences in my life have made it so I can't disbelieve in an afterlife, but the streets paved with gold and the rewards heaped upon an eternal life of ecstasy? Mmm no. The commonly accepted concept of Heaven, I suspect, is a con perpetrated to placate the masses who live a hard life while/so that others may live in comfort or even opulence. It's a promise the makers of which know they conveniently aren't charged to keep.
Rather than promise me a better life after my death, stand by me and fight for a better life while we breathe.

I tend to believe life in this plane, this universe (Dr. Tyson will tell you there most likely are others) is one step in an evolution of something that, in our case, is human at this stage.

I've shared with others here what I believe, but don't care to do so in a forum setting. And I'd really rather discuss it with open minds, by a fire with a couple bottles of good wine.

by that fireplace. Gave up all drinking alcohol except communion wine a few years ago when I needed all my declining brain cells for studying chemistry and soil science in my spare time. I could bring the ice cream, or as I call it, my precious.

ice cream for you, wine for me. Or we could go with ice tea and some herbal support.
