    Even when you get food poisoning two years after his death. That, Susan, is one of the funniest and most poignant observations I've ever read. Very nice self-reflection, niceness uptick and all. How lovely in the end that you find yourself carrying Ed forward.

    I started reading the Louise Penny novels thanks to the strong recommendation a while back from a regular in the MMM, though I don't recall who said it. I'm grateful, because I do savor the books. Some of them are truly heartbreaking, and I'll stop there to avoid spoilers. A couple of them are comparatively weak, imo, but still good reads. I'll see about reserving the new one soon.
