    over think problems. The problem for Coke was Pepsi's clever marketing, not Coke's taste. At least imho.

      In a diary I wrote a million, trillion years ago, I likened the situation to how third way politics sometimes fails by trying to be all things to all people.

      In this situation, Coke was losing to Pepsi in taste tests so their solution was to make their drink more like Pepsi. But if people want a drink that tastes like Pepsi, they're going to buy Pepsi. So for voters that want Republican policies, they're going to vote for Republicans, not Democrats who are "kinda" Republican on some things.

      People that love Coke love it for being Coke. So from the 80s on The Coca-Cola Company has accentuated nostalgia and Coke's attachment to moments in people's lives.
