  •  reading a book that you hold in your hand (2+ / 0-)

is so much better, infinitely better, than reading it on a computer screen of any kind

    but i'm an old fogy

Politics is like driving. To go backward put it in R. To go forward put it in D.
Drop by The Grieving Room on Monday nights to talk about grief.

    •  I have nothing against e-books (4+ / 0-)

      E-books have helped authors immensely.

      Pirating, not so much.

      •  I don't condone piracy, but we did see this coming (0+ / 0-)

All you had to do was watch what happened to the music industry when it was digitized.

It is one thing to stand at a copy machine all day, flipping pages and another taking 20 secs to copy a file on to an USB drive.

The music industry moved to a performance based model for revenue... But I don't see even James Patterson selling out the LA Coliseum at $60/ea to hear him read his book for an hour...

The e-book is here to stay... but I'm not sure it has helped authors immensely...

A mind like a book, has to be open to function properly.

    •  But the e-reader doesn't aggravate the arthritis (0+ / 0-)

the way the nice large chewy tomes of non-fiction I like do.

Usually I buy twice. Once for the shelf to stay home, and once for the e-reader to go with me.

Help me get my utilities on! I can't eat this elephant by myself.
