Save the 10: Gloat-a-rama for DeLay's upcoming conviction.

I'm a 'have your cake and eat it too' kinda guy. We can gloat then too.

Besides, I've had it up to here with "keeping our powder dry".

      •  The Jury (4.00)
When I first moved to Austin over 9 years ago, I got called for jury duty every year.  I went through voir dire twice, the last time about 3 years ago.  It was a civil case against a for-profit prison company (Wackenhut, I think) whose guard had raped an inmate.  I knew that as a former lawyer (Louisiana) that I'd never be picked for the jury, plus I had Jim Hightower's "..Middle of the Road..." book with me, but when the defense attorneys asked if anyone had a problem with for-profit prisons, I was the only one to raise a hand.  I said I had lots of problems with them, one of them being that the money that goes for profits would be better spent on hiring more competent guards, background-checking and psychological workups.  Lots of other hands then shot up.  "What she said," they said.

Odd thing is, after getting summoned every year before that, I haven't been summoned again for jury duty in over three years.  Not that they'd pick me for the DeLay trial.  I'll bet one of the voir dire questions will be "have you ever posted on a blog site, particularly The Daily Kos?"  My answer, "HELL yes!"

Don't blame me; I didn't appoint the Supreme Court that appointed Bush.
