  •  We fight useful battles (none)
Healthcare, Katrina investigation, clean air, Iraq way, etc.  There's a vast number of battles where winning will do the country good.  Fighting Miers at best just substitutes one probably-too-conservative justice for another.  Plus, it's a tougher fight than most of the good ones.  The important battle is getting the Senate back in 2006 so we're not dependent on the longevity of 4 old men and 1 old woman.
    •  You mean to say we are fighting? (none)
I would like to see where we are fighting on the Iraq issue.  Schumer has said that we will be fighting in 2006 on issues like heathcare (I good one though to fight on), economy and such.

But first, and I am very first thing, is you must convince people you will fight for them when things get rough, when the republicans call you names, and not back down.  Until then, no issue will trump the "I trust you" card.

      •  That's a recommendation (none)
Not a claim of fact.  The Senatorial Democrats are letting these issues drift, partly because Bushco has managed to focus so much attention on the Supreme Court (although partly also a lack of strategy on our part).  I was responding to the "what should be fight for" comment.
    •  The point is... (none)
we could have fought on Roberts...he refused to answer questions, and the White House withheld me, this is the White House purposefully and unlawfully disrupting the Senate's job (according to the Constitution) to advise and consent. This would have and should have been reason enough to filibuster...the stupid Dems made a choice to get on their knees for Roberts...saving all their fight "for the next nominee"...and now, they have NO standing to support a filibuster because they didn't filibuster Roberts...unless by some miracle some crazy information comes out about the Blueberry (my nickname for her due to her damn ugly suit).

We are NOT winning ANY of the "battles" you mentioned...we're not even fucking FIGHTING THEM!!
