  •  Filibuster, yes... (none)
The filibuster would be over her qualifications, or lack thereof. And yes, dems should filibuster as long as Roe might be overturned. It is THAT important. Of course, there are many other reasons Hiers would be a disaster. Corporate attorney, strict constructionist, etc.
    •  I'm sorry, (none)
but attempting a filibuster of every nominee so long as Roe might is neither effective, wise, or even possible.  It's an plan of little intellect or stragy and cannot be justified politically or maintained practically.

Perhaps, should you be so wedded to this plan, tell me just who Bush would ever place on the Court who is avowedly pro-choice or at least committed to upholding Roe.  Anyone leap to mind?

    •  Ridiculous (none)
Basing EVERY important judicial decision on whether or not Roe v. Wade is overturned is placing just as much emphasis on the abortion issue as the right-wing zealots do.

Bottom line?  We have wayyyyy too much going on right now in this country -- we have far too many problems -- to be using this single issue to dictate our party's strategy.

The Republicans are the ones arguing that it comes down to abortion and gay marriage -- but there's so much more than that.  Not every case that goes before the Supreme Court is going to be a case involving abortion.
