  •  We seem to be getting wires crossed here. (none)
    When she's on the court, she will almost certainly vote like Scalia does. That's what I meant. But she's not going to advertise that fact now. And the rank-and-file right DOES want blood. The White House didn't give them what they want, well-established ultra-conservatives -- Edith Jones, Priscilla Owen, Michael Luttig.

    If the Republicans stay in power much longer, An Army of One isn't going to be just a slogan.

      again, how does your opinion of Miers differ from, say, a rock that has been nominated? Would you say this regardless of who Bush picked? Does it matter in the least who the person in question is?

        My opinion of the nominee, Miers, is based on my opinion of the people behind her nomination. If you want to hold out hope that she will be another Souter, by all means, be my guest. Anything's possible.

          it's a simple Scalia/Souter binary. Yet, I'm not going to presume anything until more of her history is revealed and she answers questions regarding judicial restraint, judicial precedent and privacy rights.
