we spend our summers in Mars Hill and go to an Episcopal church there. The parish is very progressive but at the same time mountain people. They are proof that you don't need to be a urbanite-late drinking-elitist to be liberal.
BTW I'm really happy to know the people who voted them out (sounds like survivor) were mostly teen-agers and/or people who had only been there a short time.
It broke my heart to imagine people you had spent your life along side at church cheering your exit.
