  •  the guardsmen went on trial... (0+ / 0-)

And during that time, ex-Governor Rhodes, thanks to a friendly decision by the Ohio Supreme Court (thank God that kind of thing doesn't happen anymore), was running for Governor again, even though the state constitution seemed to set a two term limit.

In that election season, the guardsmen went on trial, Rhodes was re-elected as Governor (and again! in 1978), and the case was dismissed, in that order.

    By whose order?

And "Nixon being scraped off the wall with a spatula" the year before?  Yes, Kainah, that is a priceless image, especially when you consider tricky Dick was being splattered to the wall by Watergate during that time.  Kent State sent him over the edge?  When he was staring impeachment in the face?  Hmmmmmmm.

As usual, great diary.  Sorry I got to it late in the day, my usual habit.  Highly recommended, again.  Looking forward to the finale.  And to the novel.
