    Thanks for your diaries...I grew up in Athens County Ohio where Dean Kahler lives so was familiar with the larger story but not the many details you provided.

    My partner and I were in Akron this summer and as a result of reading your diaries decided to drive over to Kent State and view the memorials.  We took my 12 year old niece who was obviously incredulous that such a horrific thing could happen.

      You're at least the 5th person who has mentioned that, after reading these, they went to the campus. That amazes, and humbles, me. I'm glad that the diaries have apparently prompted people to go, both out of curiosity and seeking some sort of resolution for their feelings.

      I guess it's definitely time for me to step up to that challenge, too. I must admit I'm a little scared of all the emotions that the trip will kick up but, having relived and remembered so much of it through writing these diaries, I know it will be less painful than it would have been had I been able to do it, as originally planned, last October. (At that time, I got a terrible cold that prevented me from going. But, looking back, I suspect the cold was much more emotional than physical.)
