    constituent at the moment, and therefore entitled to the information asked for as well?? And why would anyone running for office, whether incumbent or not, not want their positions on the issues known? That is what is so puzzling to me. Oh for the good old days when candidates, incumbent and otherwise, issued position papers to anyone who asked, even their opponents.

      I guess many Republican rubberstamps realize deep inside that their positions are indefensible, so they must hide them from the public. I know my senators, Rockefeller and Byrd, regularly keep me informed, even when I've disagreed with them and they note their differences to my view in their return letters.
