...at the very least it blew the dream of Steele getting a lot of black votes out of the water.  As in HMS Hood blown out of the water.  As in Japanese fleet at Midway blown out of the water.  Well, you get the idea.  Any chance Steele might have had to win Maryland is officially kaput.  But keep dialing anyway, just in case.

Even if the ad allows the R's to keep the Senate seat in TN, it is likely to have done them a lot of harm in the rest of the country.

Steele looked cool & confident as he spun his lies. He even talked past that amazing "Steele - Democrat" bumper sticker thing. (Russert should have shown the WaPo photo of the "Steele - Democrat" sign at the Steele campaign rally.)

Cardin frankly looked scared, like he was more afraid of making mistakes than attacking Steele. He was defensive & missed opportunities to shoot Steele down. I had to turn it off halfway through.

Oh well. How many undecided Maryland voters were watching MTP?

But Cardin was even worse. I though it was so stupid for him to keep saying "I won't support putting our troops in harm's way", instead of saying something like "I support the troops. It was so awkward and stupid and he kept repeating it.

He's articulate, but he is also clearly full of crap. The Steele Democrat thing was blatant BS -- said without shame and without missing a beat, yes, but still BS.   "Are you a proud Bush Republican?"  "I'm a proud Republican.  I'm a Lincoln Republican."  WWAD (What Would Abe Do) about Iraq?  Iran?  North Korea?

"I'm for stem cell research...except for the kind that scientists think might actually yield results."

Cardin didn't blow him out of the water, alas, but I think Steele didn't really help himself either.

sorry but i really disagree with you... i'd never seen him before and thought he came across as easily annoyed and way too arrogant... couldnt even answer russert's questions about his own "timeline" and his lack of republican-labeled campaign materials.  cardin was calm and focused and will win.  what did you like about steele?
