I have never seen anything like this.

Remember how we used to look down on the Mexican government for its corruption? Remember how Latin America used to be dictatorships.

Today South America is comprised mostly of Democracies. Corruption there is down. Cuba has a better regarded health system than we do.

Now that Castro's recovered, he must be laughing his ass off. Our human rights record is now worse than his.

It is like Bush must ask, "what is the best thing we can do for Iraq? Cool, thanks for the input, lets do the exact opposite."

how people here find it surprising. Have you all been asleep for the past 4 years?! These sorts of practices have been known and reported on since the beginning of the war--the scale is a bit larger for the Embassy project but the same thing was done when the contractors were building things for the "Iraqis" which they never bothered to complete or build so shoddily that Cold-War Eastern European commissars would have been embarrased to acknowledge.

My advice is follow the money and wake up! This was predictable and predicted by those who follow these things. No offense but it's a rough world and politics is dominated by people who don't fuck around when it comes to money.
