There is a strong, very strong, bipartisan consensus in Congress to be as prevalent a voice as possible in what happens near "our" oil.

It's why no serious effort to wind down the Iraq War has occurred.

Such a move, were it to gain legs, would precipitate a bona fide regime crisis.

Of that I have zero doubt.

So long as fossil energy prevails, there will be no real change in Mideast policy attempted.

And so long as fossil energy can, no serious challenge to its eminence as the energy source of choice will be abided.

This decision was made long ago. We will not be allowed to decide a change into being without having to fight, or credibly threaten to fight, it into being.

    •  Amen, but there are many who need to hear that (0+ / 0-)

dose of reality spoken out loud by our Democratic nominee for President.

Otherwise they may suffer under the false assumption that the day after the election all troops are headed home.  Not supporting the war from day one, does not necessarly equate to  immediate troop withdrawl now that the U.S. is chest deep in this nightmare.
