    to Hugo Chavez.

    Picture this:

An ISP in Venezuela, offering both hosting services AND vpn connections.  You connect to your comcast or dsl, fire up a vpn client to a Venezuelan VPN server, and voila - all of your internet activity is now anonymous.

Hugo could get some great publicity out of it, we could regain some of our privacy... and can you imagine the frustration of the U.S. Govt trying to spy on your internet activity, knowing that they have to ask Chavez for the info?

Somehow, I don't think Chavez would turn it over.  lol

And as for RIAA and the MPAA?  they would become all but fucking impotent once it caught on.

If you want anonymity, you can already get it -- by using tools such as tor.  There are two prices you pay: first, your net connection is slow, and second, the folks who relay your traffic get to read your traffic.

tor out a while back.  It's just too slow / too much overhead.

A trustworthy VPN termination point, in a country that isn't friendly to the U.S., would be the most efficient way.

Venezuela?  Syria?  Iran?  all sorts of possibilities.
