  •  ask the diarist, she just told you (4+ / 0-)

where to follow links.  I did, and I agree with her, and she is telling the truth which is often hard to hear.  Like it or not, her time as first lady was critical to our safety and our world.

Sorry you might not like the fact that half the democrats in this party think the same way.

was "critical to our safety and our world" then I'd really like us to rethink our government and our elections.  We need to be doing a lot more spousal vetting, for one thing.  And maybe First Spouses ought to have some security clearance.  And sit in on cabinet meetings.

Perhaps they ought to have some discretion over foreign aid, too.

informal channels of communication, diplomacy, and the fact that almost every President has held his spouse in high confidence and regard, and often used them to approach things that have to be done in a different way.  The only one who doesn't it seems is GWB.

the President and what is to be the credited to the spouse is clearly messy.

Am I to blame Nancy Reagen for the turning out of thousands of mental patients onto the streets?

She did not believe that her  numerous years as first lady were enough to be president.

She publicaly diagreed w/FDR (had her own radio show) and was first lady in one of the most turbelent times in our history.

So Hillary is better than Eleanor?

She easily could have been president or VP.  I think Eleanor just knew that it would not be good for the country to have on family in power so long (even ones like the Roosevelt's)

I will drink the Clinton Campaign Champagne 'cause Kool-aid is for kids!

          is a non-starter:

We simply have no way of verifying these claims unless Clinton releases the papers from the presidential library.  Nor can we take her word for it because she has a vested interest here.

No one disputes her fine work as First Lady. But she didn't have security clearance and so could not be called on to conduct real negotiations. No doubt she represented our country well and that counts for something; I have no doubt she impressed leaders overseas. But it is simply untrue to conflate this into something that differentiates her from Barack Obama.
Her character flaw is the need to make everything she does larger than it really was.
