If you have brown skin, especially if you have African American features, your integrity is automatically questioned every time you pass someone on the street and they clutch their handbag, or you walk through a neighborhood (where you live) and are asked what your business is, or where you are asked to move seats on an airline, while the white guys who came late aren't even approached.  You may just miss all the microaggressions and microinsults that go on day after day after day, but they are still there: ask yourself whether ANY other candidate's church has been fair game for politial fodder?  Or whether their religious heritage, or their patriotism as a sitting U.S. Senator would ever before have been questioned.  I think you might be missing an awful lot.  Yes there are class lines too, but the old racial barrier is still alive and thriving.

I'm sorry my comment is so late in coming.  I've been caught up in client affairs for the past few days.

I recognize the truth in your statement even as I state that that's not me.  I check my back pocket (where I carry my wallet) based on whether or not someone brushes up against me, regardless of the person's gender, color, or anything else.  I know that that's not everyone, but it seems to be more true for my younger generation.

Anyway, I think the world is improving in a racial and gender sense with each generation.  Here's hoping.
