    but the suburbs are red ... not quite as bad as the Atlanta or Nashville burbs, but still red.

      which is Sue Myrick's (R) district, is the richest district between NoVa and Atlanta, and is heavily red.

        Speaking as a resident of Charlotte, I can say I've always been perplexed by how red the area's voting tendencies are, and keep in mind we sent Sue Myrick and Jesse Helms back to Congress again and again.

        That said, with apologies to the Ghost of Stupid 2004 Rationalizations, NC is a huge college state, and I have to wonder if these college students are being captured at all in any of this polling data. There's been a huge surge of registrations of twenty-somethings in the state.

        Yes, I know, the same desperate grasp was made by Breslin for Kerry, and we see how that turned out. Still...
