    that that's a pretty normal figure....we have a lot of "conservative Dems" who almost always vote R in federal elections while voting Dem in the governor & state house races.

    Plus I think the person was referring to the DIFFERENCE in the same number between the two sets of polls...

      why would someone think a Democrat in the Gov. Office or State House, but then think we need a Republican in the White House?

      Or even vice versa...it's not that anyone should be partisan down the line, but I'm just curious how that big a contingent can be out there with that thinking to make a "trend" out of themselves.

    •  yes. "Dem" always means "votes Rep" for some (0+ / 0-)

      2004:

      Bush: 16% Dems, 96% Pubs, 56% Indies
      Kerry: 84% Dems, 4% Pubs, 41% Indies

      I think Gore did worse w/ Dems, actually (losing more like 19-20%), but I can't find exits right now to confirm.  If anyone knows for sure, I'd be obliged! :-)
