    there's a broader path to blue this year than in the past, at least!  and the good news is that primary turnout does tend to be a predictor of general election turnout in NC (at least for last two cycles).  

    Obama's "blue" has a much broader base than either Gore's or Kerry's did, because he appeals on multiple issues.  In every (worthwhile ^~^) poll of the state, Obama leads with "economy" and "Iraq" voters, and these continue to be the top two issues in the state.  He has a lot of support here amongst military families (much more so than for last two Dem candidates), a strong urban base, a solid lock on the college towns, and more support amongst working class Dems spread out around the state than another "librul" candidate might.  This is a good year to be a Dem in NC.
