  •  He probably figures young people won't turn out, (7+ / 0-)

so he's free to take shots at us.

    Oops.

    •  Problem also is, young people generally become (4+ / 0-)

old people, eventually, and the memories of the first few voting experiences stick around.

I actually try to look like Generic Young Republican Voter by piling on the flag shirt and jewelry when I go to the polls. I got asked for a higher level of ID than state law requires and was expected to rifle through my purse for said ID without benefit of a table to rest it on (with no. one. else. in. line. and an empty table less than six feet away to the side) the first time I voted in person.

I had the ID. I also had the piece of paper in my hand from the table outside that said by law I wasn't supposed to be asked for that form of ID. It was my first time voting. I was flustered and complied without much comment.

The experience stuck. So I figured I either looked too young, too Democrat, or potentially Not Christian Enough for whoever was at the door deciding who had to show ID when. So I go for the "I am the posterchild of Republican youth" thing when I go. (It helps that Election Day is one of the days I think going overboard with red white and blue is potentially appropriate.)

And I'm not going to forget that of me and the family member who entered the polling place that day, the one that didn't look like a Republican housewife was the one who got carded at the door rather than the official table on the other side of the room.

Incomplete list of McNames in profile. Personal favorites include McSogynist, McNopoly, and McThuselah, and McCambrian.

I put a bible on top of my clothes in my biggest suitcase.
