    I have been soooo sick of the obligatory, obsequious religious affirmation at the end of every political speech. So, kudos to Barack Obama for actually giving an address that did NOT end this way. Hopefully, this will be the start of getting overt religious references out of everything that the government and our politicians do.

    This short talk was excellent in every way. It hit just the perfect notes. It is a very good beginning.

      •  There's a difference between a rhetorical tick (0+ / 0-)

        like "make no mistake", and paying obeisance to an imagined an obligatory affirmation of loyalty. And when that affirmation of loyalty has religious implications, it is that much more noxious. I'll take a zillion "make no mistakes" for a single of any of the "god-bless-america" variations.
