  •  Other complaints (4+ / 0-)

The Cons are seeking to restrict the right of public workers to strike and cut public campaign funding.  The former has ticked off the NDP, the latter the Liberals.  Enough so, that they feel they have nothing to lose by attempting to bring down the government.

If this is a center-right country, why did the people just elect a left of center government

    •  Pay equity (0+ / 0-)

They also want to disallow recourse to tribunals to settle pay equity disputes by  drowning this as just another issue in the big collective bargaining jumble. (And, as you've said, they've prepared the terrain by suspending the right to strike of public workers so that their bargaining power is considerably diminished.)

    •  Restricting public financing would destroy (3+ / 0-)

the opposition parties and lead to virtually unopposed Conservative rule for the foreseeable future.

It would be a disaster for our democracy.

The opposition is fighting for its very survival. And for the survival of a viable democracy in Canada. That's how serious this is.

They should be applauded and supported by Canadians who believe in our democracy.

The alternative, if they fail, is quiet scary.
