    I know they used to have wa (わ), wi (ゐ), we (ゑ), and wo (を). They still use wa and wo (wo is mainly a particle now, and is pronounced the same as the vowel, "O". I'm not familiar with a historical "wu" syllable. Did "wu" drop out of use before man'yōgana came into use?

    I'm so old school I drive a yellow bus with gothic arch windows. (-10.00,-8.87)
