    on seating new members?

For a typical Senator does it go like this:

    1. Arrive at Capitol, present to presiding officer document from home state certifying that I am the newly elected or appointed Senator
    1. Presiding officer examines document, declares it valid, swears me in
    1. I can vote

If that is the normal process, what happens when there is a controversy?

Specifically, who can object to the seating, and when? Is the motion to seat or to deny? That matters, because blocking the motion by filibuster will result in a different default, right?
