    and it was all calculus.  That pretty much says it all.  

    I was too young to understand the overwhelming influence of unexamined assumptions.

    Unfortunately, and as you point out, math requires assumptions, and assumptions make asses out of us all.  Particularly when they are unexamined.

    Which brings me to the Republicans and their desire for an unregulated economy....

      humanities at MIT.

      There wasn't as much math in them as there was in econometrics, but there was quite a bit.
