  •   But I digress... (6+ / 0-)

Eight years ago, my Mom (with whom I lived after my divorce in a house we had bought together and had loved and had sold -- eight months after buying it, in the height of the first bubble, for many more thousands of dollars than we had paid for it -- a sale I have always regretted, not only because I had loved the house, but because its historic character -- it had been a tavern at which Lewis and Clark stayed the night before they left to cross the country, a tavern at which President Jefferson had met them -- was decimated by those who bought it from us) had already moved to California.

LOL, sorry noweasels, its a beautiful passage, but it reveals a soul with so much to tell!

    I read on, eagerly...

Such a beautiful telling, noweasels.  You are lucky to have a touchstone of the original men who forged this great union, oh so lucky!

But such are the vicissitudes of life, no?

There is a cartoon out there in the tubes that goes something like (I paraphrase):

      "What time is it?"

      "Now."

      "Well, that doesn't mean anything."

"It is the most meaningful answer."

I, myself never take pictures of flowers, because I don't want to steal their souls.  Kidding.  It's because I hate to see flower pictures.  I'd rather see the flower.

You are so blessed to have that connection.  I climbed Montauk Point lighthouse many times, a lighthouse commissioned by General George Washington, many times.

To be in touch, now, with the times, then, is supreme.  I'm currently studying Roman history.  I am surprised at how much fact survived the several millenia!

I revere those men and women who forged our country in the 18th century.  I really do.

        Just remarkably beautiful.  Thank you.

Thank you noweasels, others seem to have a special bond with you, you seem really cool!

          I am grateful I didn't get troll-rated by the flower-picture-taking industry.

JK, it's all pretty good!  You inspired me.
