  •  Not only the strong stone and mortar of the past (11+ / 0-)

at our feet but the solid walls we raise in the present with our hands together.

How high will the vaulted arches of our future soar?

    I don't know. But I do have a feeling.

I think it is nice to look up in the night, no longer despairing of the dark.

It's nice to dream of stars once again.

We've chosen more than just a redemption of the past and an improvement of the present.

We've chosen a more generous future for ourselves and those who will, generations hence, still call themselves Americans.

And some of them will come across an ancient home in the Potomac valley, some house where a famous writer and attorney once resided, and set bare feet to well-preserved floors and wonder what thoughts did she have, when she wrote that Lewis and Clark diary back in the day?

    There's just no telling. :)

For the next several years, we must be serious. For the next several days, though - smile.
