  •  I laughed this morning when I listened (5+ / 0-)

to NPR interviewing Newt as still a leader of the Republican party. He said he didn't know how small a government we need, but it should be a "smart and efficient government." Wow, he utters Obama's words as his own original thought and thinks 78% of us, who give our approval to Obama, are still the dumb,not-paying-any-atention citizens of yesteryear.

Further, when asked to give his opinion about the latter phase of Obama's transition period, Newt refused to criticize Obama. Instead he refuted the host's suggestion that Obama had overreached and said Obama had actually stepped up to the plate and made good decisions. He went on and said that the transition period should be shorter.

Fpr sure, the Republican brand stinks - even to those who pushed the crappy Regan conservative movement onto our country.

The man is a very shrewd politician.  I think the the thing he had against Clinton was that Clinton was even better than him.  Newt is not going to tear down a VERY popular politician - it nets him nothing.  Now, if you want to discuss his sincerity - well that's a different story.

tell us who the "new" Conservative is now that Bush is the latest wasn't-really-a-Conservative?

He in particular keeps trying to dust off the theory and blame its failures on the human embodiments whose damage to the republic is equivalent to their adherence to the credo.

Of course, they stand a better chance if they start with someone who's not a drunken idiot.

    •  NPR Blows. (5+ / 0-)

Here we are the day before the greatest change in our lifetimes, and they interview a tired old intellectually bankrupt has-been for his "point of view."  WTF, NPR?  Like we're all waiting with bated breath for advice from NEWT!
