  •  Even if we could have stopped (23+ / 0-)

some of the stuff that was going on?

Though I have always disagreed with it, I have always tried (and sometimes failed) to respect the views of folks who were against it.

But I am constitutionally (heh) incapable of letting injustice pass without doing what I can (in my small way) to oppose it.

Thousands and thousands of people have died and many tortured since the dems took over in 2006 and decide that it was in THERI interest to let Bush continue his reign of terror in Iraq and Gitmo and the rest of the NETWORK of secret prisons he set up. On this day when their "strategy" has "paid off.".....let's remember how many have suffered for that "strategy."

They could have stopped it....and they didn't.

    •  But I don't know (5+ / 0-)

that they could have stopped it.

Think about it. Bush controlled the DoJ. All the federal law enforcement apparatus. He could have trumped up charges on anybody who tried to get anything done in Congress, and I have no doubt he would have.

We know they tried to do that to some, and in some cases, succeeded.

How do you fight that? Maybe in that case, you don't. You wait. You lay low. You act like you wouldn't even consider something like that, that it's just a ludicrous idea. And you collect evidence. You lull them into a false sense of security, which is pretty easy when they all think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread.

And when they no longer have power, and when you have a functioning judiciary, you bring out the evidence you collected and you charge their asses.

The last thing you want to do is tip your hand before you're safe.
