to build the Iowa party at the state level. The DNC is not your knight on horseback.

The Democratic Party should be strengthened at the precinct, Legislative District, county, and state levels by the people who live there.

The strongest, best organized, and most smoothly operating state party machine you can build is your best insurance against smug little pissants from any national campaign coming in and taking over your state every four years.

Electoral results and proven party building strengths at the state level will force the DNC to supplement your efforts with the necessary assistance.

One of many ways to start making that happen is "What we raise here stays here."

away from the Iowa Democratic Party's "coordinated campaign." They said they'd run a better coordinated campaign.

We got a big victory for Obama in Iowa without the results for down-ticket Democrats we could have had with a truly coordinated campaign.

I have loyally donated to the Iowa Democratic Party AND to the DNC for years. I'm through with the DNC until I see proof that it's about more than a 50-state strategy for re-electing Obama.

      •  I've never given the DNC a nickel (0+ / 0-)

Not even in the Dean days. I keep it all at home (WA), and I encourage "what we raise here stays here" in all my party activities.

There are always enough local high rollers who will give money to the DNC. It makes them feel like big shots. I want rank and file Democrats to practice, get used to practicing, and get used to exercising local control.

My wish is that every state party will get strong enough, and unassailable enough, to negotiate with the DNC on a more level playing field over how states will organize and mobilize, during and between election cycles.
