On the positive side, a newly invigorated ADP at least gives us a fighting chance. Eckerstrom is going to have to stand up and fight. The nutters are hell-bent to screw AZ. A resurgent ADP can blunt it.

On the negative side, you are so right on, spot on that the nutters are running the show down there at the Cap. It's a trifecta baby: Gov, Senate, House.

Key point: Now we have a chance to blunt their surge and then counterattack, setting up for '10. Short term ('09) defense, long term ('09+) offense. We'll see if we have some smarts in there now won't we?

"liberal academics" in the universities, don't they? Now they think they have a reason to cut education funding that the public will buy (a deficit largely engineered by them), and the results are beyond severe -- thousands laid off, campuses shut down, tuition raised a lot.

I just finished Zakaria's Post-American World, and while I don't agree with him on a lot, and think this book is too rosy (esp. in light of the recent meltdown), he does say one thing that rings true: education should be our principal industry. It's the best bang for the buck and too much of it can't hurt. I don't think the wack-jobs sitting at the state capitol know or care, though.
