The Crawford decision on torture?  That is the smoking gun.  That was the coup d' gras of the Bush Adminstration officials who had knowledge of, who offered opinions, and who did not immediately resign when they were informed.

I am serious.  They are fucked.

You know that her pronouncement was made for special effect, because it was given to Bob Woodward, long the recipient of certain leaks/cover-ups/interviews, and expressing something very heavy is coming down from government circles.

Remember, Woodward knew "Deep Throat" not because he was a reporter, but at met him when he worked for ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence).

A virtual civil war is going on inside the military and the various intelligence agencies right now on the matter of interrogations and torture. It's outcome is still in some doubt, however. But the Crawford revelations were meant to fuck up the pro-torture party. We will see what happens, but you know what I think: we must keep pushing and writing and shouting, and put all the pressure on we can to bring these torturers to the bar, and to eliminate all traces of torture from our government.
