    fired is not true in my experience. I don't know anything about health care unions but in my field (construction), if you are screwing up you CAN be fired, union or not. If you're wrong the union can't really help you.

      which is mostly with government employee unions, people don't get fired. EVER. No matter how lazy or incompetent they are.

      Oh, and you can take your hide rating abuse and shove it.

        very, very hard (impossible seems to be a better word) to be fired, even with a detailed record of Jeopardizing patient safety. managers will basically tell you that someone has to die first. and even with that, don't be surprised if the person just gets TRANSFERRED to another place (jobs LOVE to handle a problem that way).
        So maybe in the manual and in people's powerpoint presentations during orientation or funding solicitation conversations "people can get fired", but in the real world of (some) union workers in hospitals (and unions elsewhere) it is practically impossible, to the point public safety is in jeopardy.
