The double standard from Republicans in this regard is unfathomable.

How about greedy corportist and rich people...many of them who happen to be Republicans...

but I'm utterly serious-If these thieves turn out to be Dems, and have contributed to now embarassed politicians, I don't give a good god damn.

They need to be held accountable, and that only highlights how important it is that we need serious campaign finance reform-such as public financing.

We already foot the bill in undue influence exercised in legislation by fuckers like this who don't think they have to answer to us little people.  Might as well make the expense an above the line one and let us be the influencers.

        •  it's the attitude of most Repubs (0+ / 0-)

I took Chicago Lawyer's line about Republicans to mean Republicans in general, and their attitude about such things, not that the individual Wall Street types necessarily had to be Republican (though I'd feel safe betting the rent that they were). I know plenty of Republicans who don't work on Wall Street, some who don't even make a lot of money, but they have that same attitude, that somehow whatever business does is fine and poor people suck. That if you had the smarts, the cojones or whatever to get to be in that position, you deserve your rewards, and if the government helps business, it all trickles down (as Thom Hartmann says, to the pee-ons).

I don't care if Pandit is a utopian anarchist, there's no excuse for the private plane or, worse, the bonuses.

Moreover, the only people outside Citi, Bank of America, etc. defending these moves are Republicans.  Limbaugh apparently defended Thane's $1 million plus spent on office decorations the other day, claiming that the banks are private businesses and that the government has no place interfering with how they spend their money.  No matter they ran their businesses into the ground in unbelievable fashion and remain in business solely because they're on the government dole.
