Thank you for representing what used to be honorable military values (before 2000) that I learned about from my relatives who served in the military from the beginning of this country forward.

I have been alternately horrified, embarrassed, ashamed, and unable to hold my head high with pride in my country since Bush was appointed to his office by SCOTUS in 2000.  Illegal, unconstitutional, unjustified, unethical, immoral, dishonorable war plus torture at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, elsewhere... and eight years later I'm only managing to peek upwards and maybe hope things will be better.  I still fervently hope Justice will be found for those who died in vain or were maimed for life for the sake of lies for oil.

I never bought the story that the US military base at Guantanamo is a no-man's land where no law reigns supreme.  That hokey story should have been dismantled years ago when it was first mentioned by Lamestream Media and all US citizens who know how to think longically should have marched on DC and demanded Bush/Cheney be outsted from their offices (I've never understood why they weren't impeached at the first lies they told us regarding a connection between Iraq & 9/11 and Iraq & nonexistent WMDs).  Whatever laws pertain to ALL US military bases around the world have to be applied to what goes on at the US military base at Guantanamo, too.

For being an honorable person, I thank you on behalf of the memories of my ancestors who fought - and sometimes died - in service to this country.  It feels odd to thank someone for being honorable.  In my family, it's expected we will act honorably, ethically, morally, tell the truth and do what's right; we don't expect gratitude for it because it's just expected that we will be upstanding citizens without debating or thinking about it; it's expected to be part of our character as a member of our family.  My, what eight years of bad "leadership" will do to a nation....
