  •  Dear Pres. Obama, Sir, ... (0+ / 0-)

Your OpEd article was clear and to the point, and, needless to say, I agree with all that you have stated, wholeheartedly, and though, obviously, I am therefore equally an ardent supporter of your entire stimulus package, as much as I understand the particulars, as stated to the public, thus far, but though your OpEd was helpful and relatively informative, in that it promoted your position to the public in simple (general) terms, but what I think would be even more helpful, is a list of the key items on the package, clearly delineated/itemized, with the reasoning and purpose, for each, the intended goals and objectives, for each, the issues that each is addressing, and how it will be executed/applied ... the segment of your administration (the gov) that will be administering it, (ie, who is responsible), and then, lastly, what is being argued by the opposition, to each of the items .... and therefore, we will be able to see what their objections are for each item, and what their proposed strategy is for each issue, or if they even have a strategy, (because, as far as I can tell, their entire strategy is based upon some "blind faith" that these pervasive critical problems will magically solve themselves, as long as we provide a "tax break" (seems a bit naive, to me, since these tax breaks have never magically solved these problems before)) ... ie, transparency, for all of this process, even the "behind closed doors" stuff.

Let's expose to the general public exactly which items the Republicans are contesting, and why, and also, why you feel they are wrong. Educate the public, and shed light within the dark hidden shadowy corners of the legislative process. Yes, I know your team has been doing this, to a certain extent, in as far as the concessions being made, but these are, I believe, shared after-the-fact, I think it would be more powerful if we, the general public, were privy to the blow-by-blow, and in this way, we will all see the real games that they are playing, and why their rhetoric is, all too often, without substance and merit, and is merely designed to derail the process of addressing the critical and immediate imperative needs of the people, whose mandate you and the Senate and the House have been given, resoundingly, by the public. If the Republicans want to cut down the budget, fine, let them provide an itemized list of their modified version of your package, and how they are intending to address each of the issues that your plan is addressing.

In other words, to put it bluntly, the "devils in the details ...."

    Expose the house of games!
