When I was pregnant with our first child. The bizarre tradeoffs you make in that situation are amazing. The most ironic for me was when I couldn't afford so much as a box of breakfast cereal, but could use a credit card to charge several times as much for gas (grocery stores didn't accept credit crds then), so I could drive a long distance to a relative's house to eat. The debt created during that stretch of our lives took almost a decade to pay off, and I still ended up with pre-eclampsia from the lack of protein.  We couldn't do that kind of trade-off now, due to the usurious interest rates and punitive policies of credit card companies.  I'd probably die if we were in the same situation now.

In real life, a TARP is a cover-up.
