  •   Worst moment in the media's performace last year (0+ / 0-)

This post points to the worst aspect of the media's performance during the election last year.  The few days between the selection of Palin as McCain's running mate and her convention speech, the Republican's threw the mother of all hissy fits about the media's coverage of Palin.  Really it was epic.  Exclamations of disbelief and red faced sobs of grown men appeared in print and on all the cable channels; it was a full court press.

And it worked.  The media allowed a total reboot.  Even with all the reporters in Alaska, the press demurred at running even the most basic story on her past. Instead the only thing that we got was when was Sarah going to be given her first interview.  Essentially all the negative press she received post convention was with respects to her campaign performance.  Nothing was devoted to her record and behavior in Alaska prior to the nomination.

It was a total capitulation of the mainstream media to Republican world view about what was an acceptable topic for destruction and what was out of bounds and it.
