  •  Some blame should fall on the netroots... (9+ / 0-)

...if Brown pulls out the win.

Look at all the terrible shit that's been unearthed in just the past 2 weeks.  There's no reason, there's no excuse, there's no way we as a community should have been ignoring this guy until the final leg of the race.  This went under EVERYONE'S radar, and it shouldn't have.

We are an incredibly powerful resource, particularly when it comes to opposition research.  The 9/11 vote, the birther line...those could have been found a month ago and killed his candidacy before he even had a chance to surge.

Let's hope National Dems take the hint on this, and know they have to FIGHT for every seat.  But let's also hope that the Netroots also takes one...that we can't depend on them to do it.  We need to step up too.

    •  Its not our JOB. (5+ / 0-)

With all due respect, people like David Axelrod are PAID big money to do this for a living -- full time.

      We are not.

    •  We are a powerful resource, yes. (3+ / 0-)

But the Dem establishment wishes we didn't exist.

      •  Nah... I think they know that they need us. (0+ / 0-)

With so many forces pulling the country rightward, they need us pulling the other way.

I'd be willing to bet Obama's heart is with us-- it is just hard to govern the country that way, with the banshees wailing no matter what he does.

Given the time, he'll pull things leftward.

        •  They need us as an ATM (0+ / 0-)

          and to GOTV.

But they'll never admit it, or even bother to put us into effect, until the last fucking moment.

"Given the time, (Obama)'ll pull things leftward." Have even a crumb of evidence to that, whatsoever?

No, he's gone right, often far right of every damn one of his campaign promises, or just about any damn issue you can name that would something a liberal or progressive might hold dear.

And in public statements, he and Rahm have held us in contempt over and over.

But go on believing in fairy tales, if that helps you sleep at night.

And the lesson they will take from Coakley if she wins or not, will be to further alienate Democratic base by moving ever rightward.

Because that's how Corporate Democrats roll.

          •  I'm afraid you may be right on this: (0+ / 0-)

And the lesson they will take from Coakley if she wins or not, will be to further alienate Democratic base by moving ever rightward.

It would take some real leadership to move left.  If Brown wins, we'll see...
