  •  I do not agree!!! (0+ / 0-)

Our military is already stretched thin enough, there is no way in hell we could send all the civilians home without destroying military families.

There are more civilian contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan than US military service members. It is not possible to replace all of them with US service members.

This is an utterly stupid idea.

Right now, my family has two members proudly serving in the line of fire, and one just returned.

If the Xe contract was canceled, my family members may never come home. One is a new mother, her son needs her at home.

The US military has a long history of using civilian contractors in war. Charles Lindbergh flew bombing raids in the pacific as a civilian contractor during WWII.

Instead of canceling the contracts, enforce them.

Make the contractor do what they are paid to do -- do not take the easy way out and force our nearly exhausted military to take on additional tours of duty and spend more time away from their homes and families.

    •  I respect your family's service, (0+ / 0-)

they should not be left unsupported in the combat theater.

I am assuming your familiy members are US military and not Xe (Blackwater) employees.  Right?  You are a little unclear about that.

There are options to using mercenaries and contractors.  My choice is to rotate in military men and women from posts around the world, where we can spare them and don't need them as much, into Iraq and Afghanistan.  We have over 150,000 of them in Japan, Germany and Korea alone.  These folks are professionals, trained and ready to go.  They have been left idling in places they need not have been sent, and can move into combat, or combat support operations.

I don't know where you got the idea that it was not possible to replace the contractors and mercenaries with regular US military forces, but it is mistaken, and it is not "an utterly stupid idea" to do so.

Please open your mind to relying on the US Military to do it's job.  We don't need expensive, unaccountable, poorly trained and poorly supervised mercenaries.  The US Military can do it if given the chance.

Is 11 dimension chess really just magical thinking?
