Money in fascism is bigger than ever, apparently.

In the not too distant past, we have seen posts and blogs discussing how much the hard right will spend to get its message across. Consider how much money Rupert Murdoch has lost or invested (you make the call) in the NY Post, Fox News, etc.

What commentators like O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, and Erickson have realized is that you can make a fortune delivering the message some asshole billonaire who thinks the Renaissance, let alone the American Revolution, were bad ideas and wants to go back to being serfs and lords. As always, the joke is on the serfs, like it is continually on the teabaggers. Being a media prostitute can make you a millionaire-ask any of the four mentioned above, or others.

Two glaring examples from recent history come to mind. First, we have the early 21st Century GOP, who preached homophobia to the Bible Belters, when it turned out many were gay themselves.

The second comparison, is that I have long seen zero difference between, say, a Ted Haggard or a  Pat Robertson and, say, a Mullah Omar. Both have roughly the same constituencies socio-economically (by comparison, essentially serfs, except in Omar's case it's literally and not figuratively). Both preach pretty much the same message: you live your serf life out the way we tell you to, and not cause too much trouble, we'll send you to paradise after we're through exploiting you for fun and profit when your miserable stinking life is all over.

Consider Glenn Beck, who apparently is too over the top for his boss Roger Ailes at times. Beck hasn't gotten fired yet, which tells you all you need to know. So, the hiring of Erickson is in the same vein as using a Beck, and certainly no worse than say, a Bill Kristol, who IMHO is evil personified.

Disappointed? Not really. Surprised? Not at all.
