    Question though ... for median, do you really add the two in the middle?  I thought if you had 101 data points the median was the 51st (in rank order, up or down)

      Even numbers, take the two middle numbers. Or so I've read. I'm not claming to be a statistician.

      the median is halfway between the one above 50% and the one below 50%. So for 4, it's between 2 and 3.  For odd numbered samples, there'll be an item in the middle.  For a sample of 3, it's 2; for a sample of 5, it's 3, and so on.
