  •  Problem US faces now is the FAR Right has (0+ / 0-)

given power and attention to too many people who are gaining more influence, people who think that the Bible's description of Israel's borders somehow trumps any of the treaties that were signed in modern times.

This is the reason the atheists on this site have the sharp teeth we have, and why the Theists/Biblicalists will always accuse us of being "angry".

We're angry because if any other country but Israel had behaved like Israel has - particularly one of our own allies -

...the rational amongst us know good and damn well the US would have broken the treaty long ago and probably bombed them ourselves as a "rogue state" if the Bush Doctrine was anything but a joke made for his own convenience.

But somehow there are just enough people think that Israel must somehow wind  up getting closer and closer to Biblical prophecy (otherwise we get no second act for their Jesus) and treaties be damned.

And if one us "militant" and "angry" atheists point out that if there is a war that will drag the US against the whole Middle East, it will be because of our inconsistency between logic and alliances that in the case of Israel, flies in the face of how we regard every other country on this planet, we're called names.

George Orwell is banging on the lid of his coffin and screaming, "1984 was a cautionary tale, you dolts, not a motivational speech!"
