Is about Temple Hospital employees demanding free college tuition for their children.
That, in a nutshell, explifies all that is evil with unions.

It is relatively common to receive a tuition benefit when one works for a university or college.   Even in public schools it is common for teachers who live in one district to be able to take their children to school in another district if they work there (at least in NJ this is true and I have heard of it in other places as well).
The nurses at Temple do already contribute to their health care plan, they do have co-pays as well. They pay to park in the hospital lots.
The tuition benefit was in the last contract and mid-contract Temple decided they would no longer pay this.  Imagine your surprise when you had already enrolled your child.  Please understand, whether you agree with it or not, Temple had already signed on for that benefit and they just decided without bargaining that they would not honor that part of the contract.  They have already been told by the Labor Board for the state that they could not do this...funny thing...no one that I know of has been reimbursed for this expense.
For the record..this is a taxed benefit.
