  •  So much for a nationwide energy policy (6+ / 0-)

    allow oil drilling, but let public transport hang, because that's the state's responsibility and the federal government can only do so much.  That's a lot of people walking.  Me too.

      ARRA pays states in order to keep them from further cutting their support of public universities.  The same could have been done for mass transit systems.

        just because it hasn't been done.  Perhaps we should write to the President and suggest that for the future, since public transit (only speaking for California) is in trouble, so those coordinating this part of his policy should have this thought on record.
