  •  ARRA funding (0+ / 0-)

Was also for purchasing buses and rail cars. Several cities and counties received money for just such purposes. People in America do actually work at plants that construct such vehicles. Not building and selling those transportation items would put the manufacturer employees out of work.

    •  That is a ponzi scheme (0+ / 0-)

Having companies that build things we can't use or don't need, isn't a long term success story. If we don't need that many buses, those companies should retool and do something else. 40,000 riders a day say that Caltrain is something we do need. 350,000 riders a day on BART. 700,000 a day on SF MUNI.

Otherwise we could just have ARRA funding pay to dig ditches and fill them back up. Those are jobs, after all...

      •  Never said it was anything (0+ / 0-)

The poster I replied to said that funding to buy buses and such wasn't part of ARRA - which it clearly was. I was merely pointing out that it was and why the funding was provided.

Whether that turns out to be something that we can't use or don't need is another matter entirely.
