If you have problems with NAFTA, look to Bush I and Bush II as well as the GOP majority in Congress during their terms. Blame where blame is due.

It's ridiculous when the Bush's destroy the US economy and all some folks can do is try to blame a Democrat.

Starting with Reagen, on to Bush, then Clinton took the reigns and then back to a Bush.

Obama is doing his part too with his bailout of the banks.

As well as deregulation of the financial sector. Its ridiculous when people reflexively defend Democrats.

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Bush I put the policy in place, the GOP threatened with a veto proof majority if Clinton didn't sign it, Clinton won some concessions on environment and wage protection for US workers which Bush II promptly ignored.

Are you a former GOP voter?

...to any great extent. The jobs were lost to China when it was granted most favored nation status.

That was during Clinton's Presidency as well, so if he is to be criticized it should be on that front. I think there were good geo-political reasons for doing it, but NAFTA is small potatoes by comparison. IMHO.

          •  Bush I signed the treaties (0+ / 0-)

both NAFTA and GATT. He and the GOP leader also voted to fast-track them through Congress. GATT was the treaty that resulted in major job losses to China.

Clinton inherited all of this when he took office. It was already signed, sealed and set for fast-track.
